Landscape Forms proudly congratulates Patti Chipman and Robert "Bob" Chipman on their recognition by Michigan State University's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). Patti Chipman received the 2026 CANR Honorary Alumni Award, and Bob Chipman was honored with the 2026 CANR Alumni Service Award at the ANR Awards Program on February 27.
The CANR Honorary Alumni Award recognizes individuals whose sustained contributions strengthen the college and advance the well-being of society. For nearly four decades, Patti Chipman has been a dedicated advocate and philanthropic partner to Michigan State University's Landscape Architecture program and the broader CANR community. Her support began in 1986 with the creation of the John and Patricia Chipman Endowed International Enrichment Program, which has enabled generations of students to participate in immersive global study experiences that expand cultural awareness, professional confidence and design perspective. Over time, her commitment has grown to include faculty development, program excellence and strategic initiatives that elevate MSU's landscape architecture curriculum and reputation. Her philanthropic leadership, rooted in a shared belief with her late husband, Landscape Forms founder John Chipman, Sr., in the transformative power of education, has helped shape generations of designers and elevate the program nationally.
The CANR Alumni Service Award honors alumni who demonstrate sustained volunteer leadership and service to the college, the profession and the public good. A graduate of MSU's Landscape Architecture program, Bob Chipman has remained deeply engaged with the university through hands-on mentorship, teaching, advocacy and philanthropy. Through decades of design collaboration with Landscape Forms, Bob has also contributed more than 40 products to the company's portfolio, including several of its most recognized and enduring collections. He is a founding member of the Landscape Architecture Alumni Advisory Board, where his leadership helped establish the Landscape Architecture Innovation Fund, creating permanent support for experiential learning, conference participation and student engagement with the profession. He regularly returns to campus to lecture, participate in design reviews and lead freehand drawing workshops, strengthening connections between students, alumni and the professional field. His service has consistently focused on expanding access to education, reinforcing design fundamentals and preparing students to enter the profession with confidence, curiosity and a strong sense of craft.
"Patti and Bob represent the very best of what it means to lead with generosity, integrity and purpose," says Landscape Forms CEO, David Jackson. "Patti's lifelong commitment to education and global learning has opened doors for countless students, while Bob's design contributions and service to the profession have helped shape both Landscape Forms and the broader field of landscape architecture. Their impact on our company, on MSU and on the discipline itself is profound and lasting."
Together, Patti and Bob Chipman embody the values at the foundation of Landscape Forms: a belief in design as a force for good, a commitment to education and mentorship, and an enduring respect for craft, culture and community. Landscape Forms extends its heartfelt congratulations to them and all the CANR Alumni Service Award honorees on these well-deserved recognitions.
