Landscape Forms, North America's leading designer and manufacturer of high-design site furniture, structure, lighting and accessories, proudly announces the recipients of its 2026 scholarship program offered in partnership with the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF). This year's honorees are Zuri Askew and Joshua Schneider, two outstanding landscape architecture students whose personal stories, academic work and visions for the future speak to the many ways the field can connect people with nature, strengthen communities and give deeper meaning to outdoor space.

For nearly two decades, Landscape Forms has partnered with LAF to support distinguished undergraduate students in their pursuit of a career in landscape architecture. The scholarship program reflects the company's long-standing belief in the profession's ability to shape not only the built environment, but the way people experience, understand and care for the world around them. By investing in students at the beginning of their careers, Landscape Forms helps encourage new voices and perspectives that will carry the profession forward with creativity, purpose and responsibility.

Zuri Askew, recipient of the first Landscape Forms Shane Coen Scholarship for Diversity in Design, is an Honors Landscape Architecture student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she is also minoring in Construction Management. Raised in Norfolk's Coronado neighborhood, Askew's interest in landscape architecture grew from seeing firsthand the lack of accessible, community-focused green spaces in neighborhoods like her own. Today, as President of her student chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, she works to connect students with design opportunities, mentorship and civic engagement, while also leading Reclaiming Coronado, a revitalization project shaped by neighborhood history, with the goal of transforming a vacant former school site into a welcoming green space.

"Growing up, I didn't yet have the language for landscape architecture, but I understood what it meant not to have access to beautiful, welcoming green spaces," says Askew. "That experience inspired me to pursue this profession not only as a career, but as a way to bring healthier, more joyful and more meaningful places to communities like mine. Through projects like Reclaiming Coronado, I hope to preserve local history, create places where people can gather and learn, and use design to empower communities."

Joshua Schneider, recipient of the 2026 Landscape Forms Scholarship in Memory of Peter Lindsay Schaudt, FASLA, is a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture candidate at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. With a background in creative and performing arts, Schneider brings a strong interest in storytelling to his work, using design as a way to amplify the histories, cultures and natural systems that shape a place. He aims to create story-driven, socially purposeful, environmentally resilient and inclusive landscapes that connect people more deeply to their surroundings.

"My background is in theater, photography and dance, and I've found that many of the same ideas apply-giving voice to people, communities and place, and helping others experience the world from a new perspective. In landscape architecture, we have the opportunity to design more responsibly, connect people to the land and invite them to slow down. My goal is to create landscapes that amplify the stories, histories, cultures and natural processes of the places I'm working with."
